Launch party 2days to go

Two days to go until the launch party. Yes that time has finally come! the grant is now in and the cheque has cleared. Weekenders will have it launch party on 7th October Sunday from 2pm. We are nerves. All eyes will be on us. Have we ordered too much or too little food? Is the entertainment appropriate? We have planned this without the usual Clapham Party Staff members and all the rules are unfamiliar to us, but you know what we will try our best to do our best.

We hope the LAUNCH PARTY will be an area where the Clapham Park Residents can meet new people and where Weekenders and forge strong partnerships

Weekenders Saturday and Sunday Social Group hope to recruit new members at our LAUNCH PARTY and enjoy a huge choice of fantastic things to do… Parties, Dinner Dances, BBQ’s, Nightlife, Live Entertainment, Theatre, Concerts, Cinema, Themed Evenings, Quiz Evenings, Games, Treasure Hunts, Quiz Cross, Bowling, Skittles, Boat Trips, Football, Golf, Skiing, Canoeing, Quad Biking, Caving, Paintball, Riding, Walks, Cruise & Tour Weekends in France, & much more...

If we get the money soon

The event we are planning to do next as soon as the funding arrives is Weekenders Mind Body and Soul Event.
We hope to give relaxation tips, Festive Ideas, winter warmers.
The date hopefully for this event will be 29th Sept 2007. We hope then to link it with MIND BODY and Soul exhibition in London in late October
People from backgrounds where there isn't much money are sometimes more vulnerable. Money problems put a huge strain on adults, so they may always be arguing or constantly worry about how to pay the bills. This in itself might make you miserable. Weekenders will like to give residents a place to chill out and to unwind from the stresses of life
This will be a day to appreciate personal growth have a look at complementary therapies and have a sense of spiritual awareness, The Mind Body Day hopes to offer a vast array of therapies from Aromatherapy, to Reiki and Reflexology, Meditation and Yoga. These are just a few of the things you could see and experience at the event, together with lectures, workshops and stage demonstrations, not only are the events informative, but a great day for Clapham Park Residents.

DELAY STARTING

I had Planned to start events for Weekenders in July. The purpose of the group is to organize activities available at the weekend and during the holiday periods i.e. bank holidays.

I was planning a fantastic Carnival Celebration but SLAM (South London and Maudsley)
through CLAPHAM PARK TIME BANK have such a long process that giving out money the time has passed and I can not funtion until We have the funds.

The stupid thing is that SLAM have nothing to do with Weekenders other than We had to have a sponsor (as we are not a constituted group) to have the money passed through and I picked CP TIMEBANK.It have been 4 weeks since the invoice for the money was sent to SLAM and nothing.

Our aims for the group is to encourage the participants to attend other Clapham Park events and projects. The targeted group of people that we hope to cater for are those adults with few or no dependents and who feel isolated during this period as well as those who are not accessing CPH, CCP and NDC during the weekdays because of work, study or other commitments.

We would like to also develop a once a month “drop in” or workshops on a weekend. We hope that CPH. CPP, NDC as well as other practitioner in the Clapham Park area will be able display, talk to, and interact with the Clapham Park NDC residents at this “drop in”/ workshop meetings. I have already started dialog with Clapham Park Homes

We would like to bridge, from volunteers prospective. the gap that often occurs when other projects have finished and a new project starts. This we hope to use these activities as a great lead into active citizenship. We intend this project to be about co production and be 100% participant managed, acquiring services to deliver information only when needed.

We hope by keeping the activities of engagement fun we will be encouraging a higher levels of democratic participation and citizenship
I hope that our funds will be haere asap so that we can start our events.
